Commercial insurance

Coverage that keeps the business running

A claim should be an interruption, not the end of the story. We build business programs that hold up when something goes wrong โ€” and we explain the exclusions before you sign, not after.

Why businesses stay

Multiple carriers, one review

We compare trusted carriers side by side so the coverage and the pricing both line up with what you actually need.

Guidance through the fine print

Policies are full of exclusions and limits. We translate them into plain language so you know exactly what you are buying.

FAQ

Questions we hear from business owners

What does general liability actually cover?

It responds to third-party claims: someone who does not work for you is injured, or their property is damaged, in connection with your business. It is not the policy that covers your own employees getting hurt, and it is not the one that covers mistakes in professional work. Those are workers' compensation and professional liability.

Do I need workers' compensation in California and Texas?

The two states treat this very differently. California generally requires workers' compensation once you have employees. Texas is unusual in that most private employers are not required to carry it, although going without changes your legal exposure considerably. Which rules apply depends on your entity, payroll and industry, so confirm your own situation with us rather than assuming either way.

Is a Business Owners Policy enough on its own?

A Business Owners Policy bundles general liability and commercial property into one contract and is often an efficient core for a small or mid-sized business. Treat it as a starting point rather than a finished program: vehicles, employees, professional services and cyber exposure are each written separately.

Does my business policy cover a data breach or ransomware?

Generally not. Standard property and liability policies were not built for digital loss, so cyber liability is written as its own coverage. It typically addresses breach response, notification costs and the income you lose while systems are down.

A client is asking for a certificate of insurance. What is that?

It is a one-page proof that your coverage exists, showing the policy types, limits and dates. Contracts, landlords and general contractors commonly require one before work starts. We issue them for our clients, usually the same day you ask.

What drives the price of a commercial policy?

Mostly your industry classification, payroll and revenue, the limits you choose, and your claims history. Two businesses on the same street can price very differently because of how their operations are classified, which is one of the places an independent review tends to find money.
